Abstract

Abstract

In this study, the corrosion behavior of B420C construction steel in HCl and H2SO4 acid solution with three different concentrations, 0.5M, 1M, 1.5M, was investigated. Steels with a diameter of 14 mm were subjected to corrosion tests for four weeks, and weight loss and tensile tests were carried out. As a result of the corrosion tests, it was observed that the cross-sectional microstructures of the construction steel were corroded from the outside to the inside in the form of small voids and pits/cavities. After the reduction in the cross-sectional dimensions of the steel due to corrosion, decreases in yield and tensile stresses were also detected
